My Weight Loss Journey

The objective to my weight loss success is to keep active all day, incorporate protein based foods, and eliminate all sweets. It is not easy and it requires self-disipline. You also have to keep your focus on the goal because working out at home, there is no one to push you.

I lost 60 pounds in about 10 Months. I started in November of 2020 doing regular work outs. By that I mean pushups, sit ups, donkey kicks, weight lifting for 30 to 40 minutes. There was no difference on the scale until January of 2021. I remember I had been working out in my living room every day and I was noticing small changes in my mid section. A big suggestion is to look at the scale at your own risk. Because as your fat begins to shred and muscles begin to expand and multiply, the weight may not come off. Especially for those who do crash diets along with a work out.

I have never been a fan of the Keto diet or intermittent fasting. That may work for some people but the recipes alone for keto make me want to cry. I went with a proteins-based diet. I ate chicken, tuna fish, peanuts, Greek yogurt, plain cheerios, oatmeal, cheese, eggs. Anything that was loaded with proteins so my muscles can heal properly. I had Whey proteins sometimes but that made me afraid I would bulk up and I didn’t want that. I also took off the top slice of bread on my sandwiches. I didn’t add butter to anything. I stopped eating sweets like ice cream, cupcakes, or brownies.

I still got fast food. When I did, I got burgers or chicken sandwiches. I drank soda still for caffeine but also a lot of water (about 64 Oz a day I tried to get). Coffee is a great fat loss helper. It helps but only if it is not loaded with sugar. I had a black coffee a day or I would add vanilla creamer.

I did not hit the gym the entire time. My work out plan was Shaun T’s hip hop abs. It is a dance program that involves standing abs. I did that program fully for 2 months. February and March. Then after that, I just jumped on the trampoline, cleaned, danced, went for walks and bike rides. Anything I could do to just stay active. That was the real key to losing weight for me was staying active.

It is also good to have a body goal. I chose Cuoco off Big Bang Theory because it is the most realistic for my body type. There is endomorph, ectomorph, and mesomorph. There was also a video on Facebook of David Goggins that really put things into perspective when I watched it in March 2020. Below is a link to that particular video. This was probably my biggest motivation. You need that too. You need someone to get you off the couch on off days. I did notice that on an off day, I pushed to just finish the workout and that made me happier and I got more housework done.
